Shannon M. Fitzpatrick has represented individuals and businesses for more than 30 years. A formidable attorney both in and out of the courtroom, Shannon began her legal career upon graduating magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 1983.
Ms. Fitzpatrick grew up in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, where she was in the Mariner High School Class of 1975. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota in 1980. After law school, she practiced in Seattle, Washington and Boston, Massachusetts. In Massachusetts, she was named one of 10 Massachusetts Lawyers of the Year and was featured in the inaugural edition of Massachusetts Super Lawyers. She returned to Minnesota in 2005 and opened her own law practice in early 2006.
Ms. Fitzpatrick's legal practice focuses exclusively on marital and family law matters. Throughout her legal career, she has counseled and advocated for hundreds of clients. Her knowledge of family law is enhanced by her extensive prior experience as a civil litigator in many areas of law, including employment law, contractsbusiness, real estate, banking, criminal law, consumer protection, estates and trusts, and many other matters.
Ms. Fitzpatrick is a passionate volunteer. She regularly represents victims of domestic abuse in seeking restraining orders at no charge through the Tubman/Chrysalis Safety Project.. She also assists many families in need with full representation in their family law needs. In 2013, Attorney Shannon Fitzpatrick was named as the Tubman Family Law Attorney of the Year. Attorney Fitzpatrick also served on the Board of Directors of The Family Partnership and Reuben Lindh Family Services.
Previously, Attorney Fitzpatrick took statements from Liberian Civil War refugees as part of the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission Project and provided free legal advice at the Legal Access Point Clinic in Hennepin County through the Volunteer Legal Network for a number of years.
Attorney Fitzpatrick lives in Minneapolis with her husband, their standard poodle and several cats. She is an avid perennial gardener, photographer and crafts-person. She has two fabulous adult children.
